Taken from the book Seven Words of Worship
When we think about worship, we often think about what we receive from the experience. But what about what God receives?
I remember singing tenor in a choir with a bunch of great (and loud) tenors recently and feeling like I wasn't needed. Just as I was thinking to myself, They don't need me. I might as well not sing in this choir, I sensed a nudge from the Holy Spirit say, "Sing for ME! I want to hear you sing because no one can take your place with Me!" I started singing again as strong as I could!
Don't always be consumed with what you get in worship. Think about what you give. God wants worship from you. No one else can give that to Him.
I encourage you to offer up your own unique expression of worship - an expression of appreciation, adoration, desperation, and expectation that is reserved deep within you for God and God alone. Whether your worship includes three verses and a chorus, liturgical litanies, a cappella hymns, banners and dance, solemn assembly, or loud, exuberant praise, God is waiting to hear from you.
